The New Isuzu P700 Range: What Does It Mean for Truck Operators?
Isuzu has introduced one of the biggest changes to its UK truck range in three decades.
The new P700 generation brings changes across the range, from new cab designs and additional model variants to updated safety technology, in-cab equipment and a new engine and transmission combination for 7.5-tonne operators.

A new generation across the Isuzu truck range
The P700 generation covers a broad spread of the Isuzu line-up, with 3.5-tonne, 7.5-tonne and 13.5-tonne examples among those showcased at the Road Transport Expo 2026.
Isuzu says the new generation has been developed with safety, comfort and efficiency in mind, while retaining the characteristics associated with its existing truck range. The new line-up also introduces additional cab and chassis options, giving operators more choice when specifying a vehicle for a particular application.
That matters because there is rarely such a thing as a one-size-fits-all commercial vehicle.

More equipment in the cab
One of the more noticeable changes is the increase in standard equipment on applicable models.
The new range includes LED lighting, air conditioning and satellite navigation as standard, along with an infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

One example is the introduction of a 6.5-tonne crew cab, joining the existing 7.5-tonne crew cab option. Isuzu has highlighted the relevance of the crew cab configuration to sectors such as vehicle recovery.
There is also a longer 5,320mm wheelbase option for the 13.5-tonne F-Series, giving operators a choice of five wheelbase lengths beginning at 3,790mm.
For businesses, this additional choice can be important because the right chassis specification depends heavily on the body being fitted and the work the vehicle will undertake.
A new 175 PS engine option for the 7.5-tonne range
Another significant change is the addition of a third engine option to Isuzu's 7.5-tonne range.
The new 3.0-litre turbo intercooled diesel produces 175 PS. It sits between the existing 150 PS 3.0-litre and 190 PS 5.2-litre diesel options.
That gives operators another choice when balancing power and vehicle specification.
Rather than automatically moving to the larger engine when more power is required, businesses can now consider the intermediate 175 PS option for applications where it makes sense.
The new engine is paired with Isuzu's ISIM nine-speed dual-clutch transmission.
What is the new nine-speed transmission?
The ISIM, or Isuzu Smooth Intelligent Transmission, is a nine-speed dual-clutch gearbox introduced across the N-Series range from 5.5 to 7.5 tonnes.
The important point for operators is choice.
A transmission isn't just a technical specification. It affects how a truck behaves in everyday use, particularly in the stop-start conditions often encountered on local and regional work.
Isuzu says the new combination is intended to provide additional power for more demanding applications without requiring the larger-displacement engine.

Safety technology takes another step forward
The new generation also introduces additional driver-assistance and safety technology on applicable models.
This includes:

• Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR)
• Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
Isuzu says these systems have been introduced as part of the wider focus on vehicle safety across the new range.
For operators, the important consideration is how technology fits into the wider approach to fleet safety.
Driver training, vehicle maintenance and sensible vehicle specification remain important, but systems designed to provide additional information to the driver can form another part of that picture.
